gin·ger
n. A plant (Zingiber officinale) of tropical southeast Asia having yellowish-green flowers and a pungent aromatic rhizome.
The rhizome of this plant, often dried and powdered and used as a spice. Also called gingerroot.
Informal. Spirit and liveliness; vigor.
