Steves Homestead Museum This three-story Victorian French Second Empire design was built for Edward Steves, founder of Steves Lumber Company, in 1876 and furnished in a late 19th century style. The single-story brick River House served as San Antonio’s first inside swimming pool. The two-story frame Carriage House, built in 1875, was used for storage, and servants quarters were built around 1877. The Steves Homestead has been maintained since 1954 as a historic house museum.

Hilton Hotel, San Antonio
Theodore Roosevelt recruited "Rough Riders" at the Menger Bar in 1898. The story was that he had set up a table in the lobby of the hotel but had no takers. As soon as he moved the table into the bar, he signed up enough "Rough Riders" before noon!

The Historic Crockett Hotel, located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, adjacent to The Alamo and across the street from the RiverCenter Mall. President Lyndon Johnson and his new bride spent their wedding night here.
The fountain in front of the Crockett Hotel was donated by Lady Bird Johnson. Actually she was christened Claudia Alta Taylor when she was born in a country mansion near Karnack, Texas, she received her nickname "Lady Bird" as a small child; and as Lady Bird she is known and loved throughout America today.
